Ploidy determinations with the CyFlow Ploidy Analyser are performed by the precise measurement of the total DNA content of individual nuclei extracted and stained with Partec CyStain reagents, which can be derived from almost any plant or animal tissue. When used in combination with Partec CyStain PI reagents, the relative genome size of plant and animal nuclei can also be determine on the CyFlow Ploidy Analyser.
The CyFlow Ploidy Analyser measures the DNA content of many thousands of individual nuclei within seconds or minutes. The result is directly displayed as a DNA histogram on the internal 15.4” colour display. The automated, real-time ploidy analysis is extremely time- and cost- efficient.
